I have just found out that it will cost near £200 to update the satnav disc in my Insignia. My existing disc is DVD 800 NAVI. Forum software by XenForo. Download the latest Insignia device drivers (Official and Certified). Insignia drivers updated daily. Download Now.
My sister is the same way she has bought players from Sony, LG and Samsung all have had support dropped for the device within 2 years. All OEM's big or small generally drop support for a device once they feel a majority of the units sold are now out of warranty. It keeps overhead costs down from having to continually support a device.
NoSpinZone - that is pretty much what it is. They want you to buy the latest and greatest when really lately not to many new features are being added to the units.

As far as Samsung goes, they have a horrible history with firmware updates including bricking players, never releasing AACS key updates, or even removing the ability to play blurays from entire studios. Friends don't let friends buy Samsung.
Hopefully a new model will be introduced soon, but I don't have any additional information on that currently. Having said all of this, is your player functioning properly? If not, what's going on?
1) Always do a search on the members previous posts/threads, and check to see if they have received any feedback on XenTrader. They may have had previous trading disputes posted against them, or maybe trying to sell on an item they broke, or purchased broken. 2) Be extra vigilant when pursuing a transaction from someone that has just registered to advertise! DO NOT feel apprehensive about asking for a picture of the item, with a piece of paper with the VxON members user name and the date written on it. 3) Do all the question asking on the advert thread (NOT BY PM OR EMAIL) as if there is a problem, all the transaction history from both parties are publically viewable. 4) Do not accept a Paypal payment UNLESS they have a confirmed Address and/or verified (have a Credit Card on file) 5) Do not send items Via Paypal as GIFT to avoid fees, as you will not be eligible for Paypals buyer protection!

Is there something/somewhere/somehow that I can get an update for this model? More importantly how can Best Buy continue to sell a manufacturer that does not support its products, after only a year or two. Sadly disappointed with both the manufacturer and Best Buy. • Follow the instructions in the Firmware Installation Guide on the Insignia website to download the firmware update and copy it to a USB flash drive. • Plug the USB flash drive into the USB port on the side of your TV.

Now it wont play new Blue Ray DVDs. When I called Insignia they stated that they are no longer supporting updates for these models. How can a company still in business no longer support a product they manufactured with something as simple as a firmware update? Is there something/somewhere/somehow that I can get an update for this model?
Met dank aan personen van de opel club polen:) Hier een uitleg hoe je een thema kan veranderen van je dvd800 navi of simpelweg zorgen dat je een 3d functie op je navigatie krijg.
Hello again Tampaite, This is going to sound extra-special corporate-y, so I apologize in advance: Insignia continues to support our products even after they're discontinued or the warranty elapses by providing service options and functionality updates as needed. The upshot is, you shouldn't consider your player abandoned to obsolescence. If an update is needed to keep your player running smoothly for it's primary purpose (which we view as a disk player), we'll produce one and make it available. The downside of having an older player -- and this is true of all brands, unfortunately -- is that new feautures or functionality are not generally added. Your player will continue to function as it should with access to the current array of streaming apps, but you may not see additional apps soon or ever. Oddly enough, all Insignia Blu-ray players are presently discontinued.

Using outdated or corrupt Insignia drivers can cause system errors, crashes, and cause your computer or hardware to fail. Furthermore, installing the wrong Insignia drivers can make these problems even worse.
But then again if no one was constantly buying new devices the company would sink. Neihn wrote: I wouldnt say that Rwillen. Some others had over 4 years of support. Panasonic isn't much different, other than the BD10k, All their players have recieved at least 2 years of firmware updates, some are up to 4 years now. Sony has a 2012 firmware updates for the BPD-S1, the first player they released. That's 5 years with updates. A brief check of about half the players showed me that there wasn't a single player with less than 2 years, most with three years plus of updates.

I downloaded the firmware and burned it on a CD and the player has a read error. It will play DVD movies fine but no Blu Ray still. So I downloaded both firmwares and burned them on 2 sepeate DVDs, and still getting read error. Again, it will play DVD movies fine, but no Blu Ray. Anyone with the same results? I m thinking of getting a Sony DVD/CD like someone else commented here.
